Rant. Kinda long, sorry.

My daughter is 7 & 1/2 months old. She has consistently slept 12+ hours at night since she was 2 months old. Occasionally (like once every 2-3 weeks) she would have a “bad” night where she would cry and need help back to sleep. Other times she would wake up and “play” quietly with her stuffed animal and binky that is kept in her crib and then fall asleep on her own.

The past 3-4 weeks have been horrible. She is waking up 1-2 times a night. She stands up and whines and cries about as loud as she can. My problem is that she won’t go back to sleep. I will rock her, nurse her etc. It will take 1-2 hours for her to fall asleep but as soon as I go to lay her back down it starts all over again.

What frustrates me the most is that during the day for naps if she won’t go to sleep my husband just says to let her CIO. Which I do, because that is how she got ‘sleep trained’ so easily or I just got lucky. But at night he doesn’t want to let her cry because he has to go to work. I understand that he works 12 hour days and is exhausted. I understand he wants his sleep. He sleep on the couch instead of our bed due to his back (and I practice ninja moves at night I guess) so he is closer to her room. He has a fan on high right next to him for white noise but can still hear her. If it wasn’t for my monitor in the room with me I wouldn’t be able to hear her.

Anyways, I’m just irritated because I honestly believe that me going into her room to try and console her is just throwing the ‘sleep training’ out the window. I am exhausted because I am up what seems like half the night again. I try to be quite when I go in there but the dogs follow me and pace in front of her door wanting in so their nails on the hard wood make a lot of noise. Then I know my husband is cranky because he wants to sleep, but I DO TOO!

Am I thinking about this wrong? Shouldn’t I use one method to get her to sleep, instead of two? Her nap times are getting worse because I can’t get her to go to sleep anymore, it takes 30+ minutes to fall asleep for a nap now. I think my husband needs to suck it and find something for better cover noise because I’m getting frustrated that I’m only doing this for him to get sleep. Idk, thanks for reading if you’ve read this far. 😞
