What do you think of couples sleeping in separate beds/bedrooms

So I was watching Robin Williams' last movie ever, Boulevard, and the main characters have separate rooms and sleep apart in the same house. In the movie, they are clearly distant from each other emotionally and romantically. It got my wife and me to talking about people who have arrangements like that. No judgment on anyone who does, but I do know an older couple who does this as well and they are the same way (very distant, not very touchy-feely, etc). What's your opinions and why??

I'm a husband who snores and likes to fall asleep watching movies or TV. My wife needs total darkness and quiet. I usually end up sleeping in the living room, but my wife and I haven't lost any intimacy because of it. Sometimes one partner is just a light sleeper while the other is an interference with their rest. As long as you're finding intimate moments elsewhere, separate bedrooms aren't a problem.

My mom and step dad usually sleep in separate bedrooms, and they are not disconnected at all. They are still grossly in love lol. But they sleep in different beds because he snores really bad and sleeps hot, and my mom is a light sleeper and likes to be cold, so they just don't mesh well lol. I know a few other couples that have different beds for similar reasons too.

Sometimes it is because someone moves a lot when they keep or they snore loudly.  It doesn't mean they aren't in love or attracted to each other

We stay in separate rooms and love it. My husband likes noise (tv,music) while sleeping and I prefer dark plus quite.

I love to cuddle there are very rare situations I'll sleep in another bed usually if he can't sleep and I'm exhausted and constantly moves but I try not to cause he gets really upset when I try to sleep alone

We always go to bed together but I move rooms the moment I wake up from his snoring. Sometimes I make it till morning, but most nights I move. I also have insomnia so the bad nights I definitely need my space. My SO hates it but I always go back and cuddle in the morning before he gets up and that helps :)

My fiance works really hard, therefore he's always tired and it's pretty easy for him to fall asleep but I, a lot of the times can't and it literally drives me up the walls if I'm just sitting there in the room and he's sleeping. I usually stay by his side until he's finally fallen asleep I get up and sit in the dining room until I'm feeling a bit tired and then go and get ready for bed, after that I go back in the room and fall asleep next to him.

If I'm having a hard night sleeping and basically kick my husband out of bed he will sleep on the floor. He says it's cause he doesn't want to leave me alone and he'd miss me in another room. I feel terrible but also appriciate him! We hate sleeping apart.

I have seen couples who do this because one of them snores really badly and the other one doesn't get any sleep. It works for them. I do think you have to be careful not to lose your intimacy and if you choose to do something like that.
