Am I to young to get an IUD?

I have been doing some research but i have not come to any decision yet. I am turning 15 in April and i was wondering if it would be good for me to get an IUD in the near future. No, i am not currently sexually active or in a relationship but I'm talking to this guy and i wanna try to take things a step forward and i would rather be safe than sorry. I also don't like the thought of having to take the pill every day at the same exact time. i am very forgetful and i feel as if that would not be a very good situation for me. I am kind of nervous to ask my mom about it but, i think she would be proud that i am trying to stay safe. i have looked at other forms of birth control but i feel that the IUD is what is best for me and my lifestyle. i have looked at the hormonal and nonhormonal IUD and i have weighed out the pros and cons. I have had my period for a little over two years and they are still somewhat irregular and when i do have it i have a normal to light flow. With the nonhormonal copper IUD some people say that it can cause heavier periods and i don't think that would really be that big of a problem considering mine are already fairly light so if anything it would probably make them normal. I also don't like the idea of adding more hormones into my body, it kinda freaks me out. that's the end of my rant or whatever this was. thanks and please leave a comment it really means a lot.

i think you should not get the IUD and i don’t think you can get it since you are younger. but honestly nexplanon is probably your best bet. it’s just like the IUD except it goes in your arm and it’s works for 3 years, ill try and tag a video to it and you won’t feel a thing. but i feel like that would be better for you. and yes talk to your mom about it, she should know just in case anything happens, tell her you want to talk to her and you rather it be alone with her and just open up to her that you want to start birth control just in case anything EVER happens and you don’t want to risk a pregnancy but don’t tell her about the boy because maybe she won’t let you around him or will want you to talk to him if anything. so just talk to her about you starting a type of birth control and she’s a mom and a woman so she’s probably tried different methods herself and she can help you choose by explaining wat she might’ve gone through when she took that type of birth control. but don’t leave your mom out of this big step in life, she deserves to know and she’ll be proud to know you want to be safe.

I’m 15 and about to start my junior year of high school. I know I’m young for my grade, but I’ll be 16 soon 😣I’m bisexual and just became sexually active with a guy. We tried to have protected sex, but condoms aren’t 100% especially when you calculate human error- which there definitely was. One of them came off and another one broke LMAO obviously we needed some more sex-ED. I took a Plan B the day after just in case after talking to my aunt who I really trust with this type of thing. After that I finally was able to work up the nerve to talk to my mom. My mom and I had an honest conversation about safe sex and decided to have a video appointment with our doctor to talk about birth control. My mom and aunt have both had the non-hormonal IUD (the copper one I believe it’s the Paragaurd) and so that was the form of birth control my mom was leaning most towards. I thought about the implant and the pill and all of the hormonal options, but the side effects seem really scary and not worth it for me. I went to the doctor yesterday and got it inserted. It is a medical procedure, so it can be a little scary…the doctors are usually really nice and understanding and prepare you as much as possible. Not to scare you, but even with the numbing medicine there were two parts of the procedure that were pretty painful. The actual insertion of the IUD caused some horrible cramping but after that I used a heating pad on the way home. I have to say that having parental support was really amazing because you might be a little crampy and uncomfortable for the next few hours or couple of days. It also helps to not go in alone. So far, I haven’t had any complications and can’t feel it in there. I feel really good knowing it’s not f-ing up my hormones as well. I’ve been taking Ibuprofen since an hour before I got it inserted, so that’s definitely helping. I understand feeling really young, but taking care of our sexual health is really important and a very mature thing to do. Whenever you feel ready I would talk to a doctor about the IUD and any concerns you have, and talk to a trusted adult. The copper IUD last for 10 years, so I do feel like the 5 minutes of discomfort are really worth it in the long term, but it may require more parental/ adult consent/help than a lot of the other options. Anyways, proud of you for doing your research and wanting to be safe!!

You’re very young don’t rush life and things like that lol.. but the only thing is you’d have to go through a parent to get an iud
