Do you think social media sites should have a higher age limit to create an account? (Facebook & Instagram)

Right now, to make an account for Facebook and Instagram you must be 13 years old. Do you think this should be higher or lowered?

I know that a lot of the time this does not stop parents for allowing their children make accounts.

I have both and I see young kids on them all the time.

I won’t let my children have accounts on any social media until they meet the required age and also until I think they are ready and understand internet safety.

So, do you think the age should be increased?

Do you think there should be a punishment for those who break the age requirement? (Not sure if there is already).

I know some people may say “not my child, not my problem” or along those lines but as a parent do you think it’s unsafe for other parents to allow their young children on sites lower then the age limit?
