**TMI PICTURE WARNING** Miscarriage or blood clot?

Sorry in advance for the image - I know it is gross but I need your help. I am currently taking the pill but started to bleed while still taking the active pills (when you’re not supposed to get your period). I’ve had extremely painful cramps and mid-heavy bleeding. After I took my tampon out I passed this (see image), and was completely freaked out as I’ve never had a blood clot or anything like it before. I’ve been looking at some posts online and a lot of women say that when they’ve experienced a miscarriage they passed something like this, although I’m hoping it’s just a blood clot as I had no idea I was pregnant. There was also small dark clots on the next tampon I removed. If anyone knows if it’s just a blood clot or if it’s something else please let me know. Thank you
