How much was your toddler talking by their 2nd birthday?

Mine only says about 20 words but not clearly at all. I might be the only one that understands him. I’m thinking of asking for early intervention. 😕

My oldest was very slow to talk he was almost 3 before he gave us sentences. We had to really encourage it because he didn’t see the need to talk because he got what he wanted by pointing and grunting. We had to tell him use your words and started saying everything to him like “Do you want your cup? Say cup.” My middle started talking very early and clear. He was using full sentences by 2. I think he spoke quicker and better because bigger brother was almost talking to him. They were 2 yr and 6 months apart. Just had baby #3 and my older boys are 10 and 7. Wondering how early this little guy will start talking.

Right at 2 he didnt say a whole lot. A few months later he was taking a ton. He just turned 2 and a half and talks like it's no big deal.

Both my girls were talking pretty well. Their doctor said it was pretty advanced for their age though. But we worked with them a lot and the 2nd one wanted to keep up with the oldest I think so she was talking pretty well by a year and a half. But most children I know around 2 sound like how you described yours so I think it's normal
