Is this ok?

Question

If I made a formula bottle feed my son it, he only drinks 2oz falls back asleep wakes up two hours later and drinks the rest of the 2oz in the bottle?! 
Like is he ok drinking that same bottle over 2 hours? Or do I need to make a new bottle everytime he wants a feed which is every two hours. We make a four ounce bottle and he only really drinks 2 but every 2 hours

If you check the package of formula most, if not all, state that once baby has drank out of the bottle you have to throw it away after 1 hour. I would make smaller bottles if you have that much leftover. I wouldn’t risk putting that bacteria back into my baby.

Everyone is gonna say dump it but I let my kid drink from the bottle over the course of a couple hours (usually no more than like 4). I pump and bottle feed breast milk but as long as it still smells ok I let him drink it.   Did the same with my first and she’s fine.  It’s kind of up to you. 
Could make smaller bottles if you know he will only drink 2oz at a time 
I try to make up bottles of about what he’s gonna eat in a sitting but sometimes he doesn’t drink it all at once

Only make a 2 oz bottle then, no need to make 4oz if he only drinks 2. You have to discard that bottle 1 hour after feeding it to him

the recommend to only give the rest of the bottle within an hour of making nowadays, it used to be 2 hours. My son is this same. although he’s drinking 3oz every 2.5-3hours and he’s only 9 days old! going to be a little piggy x

Definetly dump the formula if it's been more than an hour. Bacteria starts in formula after that. I would make smaller bottles.

Meh. I did it with my kids. I’d stick it in the fridge though and then just warm it up when they wanted it again. They’re all happy and healthy.

Just make the bottles 2 oz at a time. My child drink 2 oz every 2/3 hours. After a hour I discard the bottle.

That’s too long. Why don’t you make a 2 oz bottle every 2 hours if that’s what he’s drinking?

I think their tummies are super small for a while. However, 1-2oz per feeding is normal for a newborn, I read. I would just be careful using the same bottle. You may want to refrigerate it, or maybe only give him an oz at a time. You aren’t supposed to use the bottle after an hour, as bacteria starts to grow in Luke warm water. I only know this because I read the bottle feeding chapter in my baby book last night. Haha.
