"advanced maternal age" must deliver at 39 weeks?
Hello all,
I turned 35 a couple weeks ago and am now labeled "advanced maternal age."

This is my third baby. I had my other two at 30 and 31, totally natural, no pain meds, completely healthy mom and babies. I am 38w3d after a completely healthy and normal pregnancy. At my appointment today, happened to ask my ob when he would induce if I go late. He told me that because the risk of stillborn goes up at 35, they induce at 39 weeks. I was shocked. I was hoping to let my body spontaneously go into labor like the last two times, and have another natural, unmedicated birth. Now I have an induction scheduled for next Friday, and I'm scared my body won't be ready, won't respond well to the induction, and I'll need an epidural or c section. Both are not the end of the world but not my hope for this birth. Anyone else hsve their Dr deliver at 39 weeks solely because of age? I could probably decline the induction AMA but I don't want to be irresponsible. Thoughts from any L&D nurses or OBs would be especially helpful.
