Can't believe he's here.

Chesh • Mummy to Theodore and Daniel

I was due to be induced on Saturday 23rd March at 9am. Just an hour from now.

Our little man arrived yesterday on the 22nd March (his Daddy's birthday) instead.

And wow... What a labour! Started getting contractions roughly 1:30pm, they got really close together really quick. I phoned the hospital at 2pm. I phoned my Dad, who already had my 3 year old, to ask him to keep our Son there a little longer because we were heading to the hospital. Left for the hospital just after 2:20, waters broke in the car at 2:30-2:35. Got to the hospital at 2:38. Baby was born at 2:53. I only just made it to the room, my partner had to help me get my bottoms off, I got on the the bed and immediately needed to push. I didn't have time for any pain relief. Took quite a few pushes, but that was because he had his arm at an awkward angle and weighs a huge 9lb 8oz!! Just for a little bit of perspective, I'm 5"4' and only weighed 48-49kg at my booking appointment where I was 7 weeks along. My first child weighed 7lb 11oz when he was born. I was lucky enough to not tear too!

We got baby dressed and fed, I had some toast and a cup of tea. Then because blood pressure and loss were all normal I was given the option to go home if I felt well enough to do so. My midwife had another patient to discharge before she could discharge me, but after that was done I was able to leave. I stayed in the room with baby while my partner took our (mostly useless) hospital bags to the car so that I didn't have to carry anything to the car. And then I walked out of the hospital at 6pm. We went straight to my Dads so our 3 year old could meet his new baby brother. So, we had a bit of a shock with how quick it was, and how big he was. But he's here, healthy and safe.

Still unnamed as of yet, but we have 6 weeks to decide on a name. ☺️
