Breast milk at room temperature, for how long?

Hi all, I am only pumping and I never know how long to leave my milk out as I always hear different opinions. I use the rule of 6-8 hours? Is that too much? Also, washing and sterilising, are you super strict?

I've done up to 8 with no issues, but I really try to keep it closer to 6. When in doubt, I just pop it in the fridge and heat it up before leaving the house if I need to.

I was told this by lactation: 
5 hours a room temp after pumped. 
5 days refrigerated. 
5 months in standard freezer. 
12 months in deep freezer. 
24 hours after thawed in fridge from freezer.

I normally only do 5 hours but he gets hungry within a few hours of me pumping. As far as washing and sterilizing I tend to wash my stuff after every session when I’m home. If I’m at work I just put my parts in a wet bag and put it in the mini fridge my work provides for me to store my milk. I honestly haven’t sterilized since the first time I started using my pump. I have put the parts that are ok to be in the dishwasher at least a few times a month. I guess that can be considered sterilizing lol

Our hospital printout said up to 10 was ok. We’ve been totally fine doing that. I’d just say if you ever have any doubt smell it 🤷🏻‍♀️. If it smells fine then it should be fine to feed.

I went max of 6. Usually only did 4 tbh. My home was never ideal room temp. Either too hot or too cold.

I do 3 or 4 hours! Put your bottle into big glass of cold water. Also helps
