Gynecologist?

I’m 17 almost 18 and I’ve been having sex for a year and I haven’t been to the gynecologist. I’m on birth control and I don’t know when I should go to the gynecologist? My mom knows I have sex so I’m not afraid of that I’m just afraid it will hurt to have an exam and stuff.

It’s not painful :) and you should definitely go now that you’re sexually active to at least get a routine STI testing and vaginal exam. It can be mildly uncomfortable and awkward feeling, but it doesn’t really hurt at all.

I've been going to the gynecologist since I was 14 (even when I haven't had sex yet), don't worry, it won't hurt, the first time can be awkward, but then you get used to it. And yeah, I think you need to see a gynecologist.
