For anyone who’s been induced, is pitocin more effective/faster when you’re dilated?

I’m getting induced on Monday and my baby is not engaged or dilated 😑 I’m freaking out about an induction because of how long I’ve heard they can take.

I was admitted to be induced and was only 1 cm and that was it. Nothing else. I had the balloon inserted that night and the next morning they started my pitocin. I think they started it around 8 that morning and I gave birth at 3 that afternoon.

I was 2 cm for two weeks prior to my water breaking. After 6 or so hours of seeing if I’d dilate on my own and zero contractions, they started me on pitocin. Not sure if it was just me but the contractions were horrendous. My recommendation for pitocin is GET THE EPIDURAL ASAP. I labored without medicine for 6 hours and it was pure hell. I was so tense that I did not dilate until after I got the epidural.

I was 4cm when I went in to get the balloon put in which they didnt need to which shocked me as I've never dilated that far on my own baby number 6. Broke water at 840pm active labour started at 3am had bub at 406am. I got to the point when my body started to push with contractions when they checked me I was only 7cm so they got me on my side and breathe through them within 10 mins I could feel his head crowning it happened quick

I was induced 2 weeks early due to preeclampsia. My cervix was completely shut and not effaced. I was on pitocin and in active labor for 35 hours. Dialated to 8.5cm before ultimately needing a c-section. But, I was very surprised that the pitocin got me to 8.5cm from closed, even tho it took 35 hours! Lol

I started at 3 cm and it took 4 hours of pitocin to get me to 10 cm. I actually found active labor somewhat less painful this time, compared to when I had my son (spontaneous labor, no pitocin). I had my epidural placed when I was 7 cm but unfortunately it took them 1.5 hours of messing with it to get it to work and by then I was 10 cm anyway. I was totally numb and pain free for the transition portion of labor with my son so I can’t really compare if the labor was better or worse.

If you aren't dilated at all, they may start with something like cervidil instead of gong straight to pitocin. They did that with my first. 12 hours of cervidil then 12 hours of pitocin.   This time I was 1 cm and they went straight to pitocin.  Took about 15 hours. The nurses said when I want progressing much this time that they probably should not have started with pitocin.  It worked eventually, but took forever to really start dilating.
