How do some women orgasm more than once during sex?

I’m lucky to do it once let alone 3 times. After the first time I’d have to wait till the 2nd round before I can cum again. Why is that?

It is just the way it is. Many women can get multiple orgasms, some can't.  
Your body needs to reset. It was placed under stress during your orgasm. Blood vessels have swollen, your nerve endings are super sensitive, feel good hormones and chemicals have been blasted into your system, and the rapid decrease after it is causing slight depression.
The period of time between your orgasm and being able to get excited again is called the refractory period. Men are especially sensitive to this refractory period, but women also have a refractory period. Yours are just longer.
There are also 2 types of multiple orgasms. True multiple orgasms is when you can just keep on going and one orgasm builds on the other in waves. The second type is serial orgasms, where you have to take a short break and start again.
You can always make your first orgasm a big one by using a technique called edging. When you get close, stop for a bit before continuing. Repeat this a few times before finally letting go.
The way you experience sexual stimulation and orgasms will change over your lifetime. Just keep on exploring and enjoying. What is possible today may become rare next year, and what is rare today may become commonplace next month.

I’m not sure! I can have multiples or many, many in a row.. but generally, I don’t orgasm often during penetrative sex. Most of mine are from clitoral stimulation.

Not agree that's it's just as simple as clit stimulation. As that's not the case for me. Far too sensitive after an orgasm for that 🙈
