Abstinence time before iui?

These are the only 2 options I have this time around. This is our 5th, so I already know. But thought I'd toss this question out there because there's always doubt no matter how experienced I am.

My RE said not to go more than 5 days without sex because you want fresh sperm. My husband’s sperm analysis numbers were fine so we always did it both days before the IUI and the night after the IUI.  Of course if you do decide to do it, you never know if it was the IUI or doing it as in our case. I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant from our 3rd IUI and that time we did it both days before the IUI and that night following the IUI. Baby dust to you!

So, we kind of experimented around to see when my hubs has the best numbers. His sperm analysis was great, 50+ million per mL after 5 days with above average motility and morphology. Then we tried 1.5 days and it was around 8 million, with good motility and morphology. Then we did 4 days and it was around 40-45 million per mL. So we know our best sample is going to be between 4-5 days of abstinence!

Depends. We had better count with 36 vs 2 day hold. 26 mil the first time and 10 mil two day 🤷🏼‍♀️

That really depends on your partners Sperm count. If his numbers aren't that good better waiting 2-3 days would be about right. My last IUI we did it the day before and NY husband sperm had a good sample. So it varies.

This is my first IUI that i am doing. But, I have heard to remain Abstinence at least 3 days before. More might even be better so the sperm would build up more. And also I am so sorry about the failed IUI’s. I am hoping the 5th one will work for you!!! ❤️
