Toddler doesn’t want to be comforted when hurt
My 18-month old has just started a new thing where he pulls away from me when he gets hurt. I used to pick him up immediately after he got hurt and he’d cry into my arms and rest his head on my shoulder until he calmed down, but now he twists away from me if I try to pick him up after he gets hurt. He still loves to cuddle when he’s tired, during our morning story time, if he has a very small accident which scares him more than hurts him, etc, but for things that actually result in a bump or scratch he usually prefers to self soothe. Is this normal behavior, or should I be concerned about autism or something else?
