Is a ring sling for a 1+ year old a waste?

Question

Looking at getting a ring sling for my 10.5 month old (he’ll be 1 on May 7th) and I don’t know if it’s pointless at this point especially since they’re not cheap 😬 He’s close to 30 inches and over 23 lbs for reference. Thanks in advance!

I would get a more structured carrier to support his weight better at that age. It would give you more carry options too.

Yeah, no. That doesn't sound appealing to me in the slightest. And as a toddler, he's going to want to freely move around. It doesn't help his growth and development to wear him everywhere like a newborn.

Yes. It worked great for me. I wore my son in a ring sling while I was pregnant, they are 16 months apart

Depends what you want it for. I have a ring sling but only paid $20 on Zulily. We also have structured carriers but the ring sling is so much faster and gives him more freedom. I don’t carrier him very often in it. It’s for clingy days or when I can’t have him down somewhere. He’s been a carrier baby though. I wore him very often when he was smaller because we lived on an island so I did it on the boat and walks around the island. 
If your child isn’t used to a carrier they might hate being confined. Try to find a discounted one or even see if you could borrow a friends for a few days and try him in it before you purchase.

my baby is lighter and is the same age, shes not loving the wrap right now, she tries to swing her head backwards alot and slaps me or pulls my hair. Maybe im noylt tying it right lol, look on fb for a second.hand one on a local site. thats what I did. only paid $15
