Are you supposed to delete photos off Instagram of you and your ex?

I recently got out of a long relationship with my ex and I have a handful of photos of us together on my Instagram, but not every picture.
Now that I’m interested in this new guy, I’m worried he would be put off with me keeping up the photos. I don’t know what’s socially acceptable or what’s not...

I think it's up to the individual. I deleted and threw away all photos of my ex, including prom because he was abusive and I couldn't stand to see his face.  🤷🏻‍♀️ I see plenty of people who still have photos of their exes on their social media.

I think it’s up to the person. In my opinion, the boy I’m with right now obviously has served a significant amount of time in my life and will always have a place in my heart. Regardless of what happens to us, I will always love him. 
I’d probably delete the photos of us kissing and stuff like that but photos we have if us with our friends and stuff, I’d keep. It’s a fact that he was in your life. You can’t go back and change that you two dated regardless of whether or not you keep them up. You know?

Instagram has an option to archive posts. It sorta makes them private without deleting them.

Depends on the person. I deleted all pics and videos of my exes because I didn’t find them relevant anymore.

I keep pictures up of my exes and I. I understand wanting to delete them because you’re moved on or it may feel awkward, but those were still good memories and why would I want to delete those?? Maybe that’s just me.

What matters more is how you feel towards the new guy, pictures with your ex is only pictures. Also maybe bring it up at some point so you know how he feels? But its not mandatory to delete everything that related to your ex so you do you.

It’s up to you. You don’t have to if you don’t want to. Just because you’re not with a person anymore doesn’t mean you have to completely erase any trace of memories you may have had with that person. I don’t take down pictures of my exes. Granted I have never been the type to put up that many pics of my partners anyway. Just a few here and there.

I think it depends on how it ended and how you feel about each other or if you’re still friends or not. Like I don’t have an ex, so it’s hard to say, but I’m no longer friends with my childhood best friend and it was like a break up and I deleted our pictures together on my Instagram because we don’t have a relationship anymore and I don’t want to be reminded of what a shitty friend she was, especially in the end. If we had just grown apart, but still kept in contact and respected each other and cared about each other I wouldn’t have gone to the lengths of deleting our pictures together.
