Shin splints
So this is gonna be long but I’ve been running for a few weeks now. Usually a mile or two a day, nothing very serious yet. But lately when I run, my shins end up in excruciating pain. To the point where is actually feels like any step I take might be the one that snaps the bone. Im never a wuss about pain but this seriously hurts. The last week I cant even be on my feet for more than an hour or two without hobbling around like a 90 year old arthritic. I went from easily doing two miles, to a half mile, to barely clearing a mile, and yesterday I couldn’t even do a mile. I had my legs wrapped all day today and did NOT run at all and the inside of my shin still hurts. Some people have told me to run through it, and some have told me to give up running altogether and take up some other kind of cardio like swimming. I need ideas on how to manage this so I can keep going because I need to be able to run.
