In January I was having really bad pain in my belly button and thought I had a hernia. They did an ultrasound and discovered I had a 5cm cyst on my left ovary. I went to see the gynecologist the next day and he said I had to go into surgery that day to remove it because it was twisting my ovary and cutting off the blood supply. I saw him for a follow up the next week and he said that everything looks good and I should see him in 6 months time.

I thought that was the last of it. I am currently 41 days late on my usually very regular cycle and have been having all the symptoms I had with my previous cyst. I had blood test done for pregnancy and my hormones and everything came back normal. At this stage I hadn’t seen the gynecologist yet. I asked him over the phone what the chances of having another cyst was and he said 0%!! But that I should come in to check just to be sure.

I had an appointment with him on Tuesday. He was expecting to just have to give me some medication to start my period and thought it was delayed due to the operation in January. He checked just to be sure and was SHOCKED to see a 6/7cm cyst now on my right ovary that definitely wasn’t there in January. I go in tomorrow to have it removed. He can’t say what it causing it. I am very concerned because he said that the next one he will have to remove my ovary. I am getting married in 5 months time and we would like to start trying from our wedding night.

Have any of you ladies had this happen and we’re still able to conceive easily, did you loose any or both or your ovaries?

Any stories or advice would be greatly appreciated.
