Contractions?

What do contractions feel like? How will you know its actual Labor?

This is my second pregnancy and I’ll say this, when you’re in full active labor there is absolutely no mistaking it! It will be painful and it’ll be like really really intense cramps. You can feel the tightening across your belly/uterus, possibly in your back as well (back labor). With my first, I started contracting almost immediately after my water broke but they weren’t bad at all at first (which btw that’s nothing like a full on gush of water like in movies lol. I questioned if my water had actually broken bc I wasn’t sure and had to go to L&D for them to check the fluid) and I was actually laughing and smiling through those first few contractions like “holy crap this is happening!!” But I stopped laughing prettttty damn quick once the contractions really picked up! Breathing techniques are key in getting through each contraction!

They’re pretty painful. Your whole abdomen tightens. You will know your in labor by timing contractions. Also your water may break.

They will be timeable and decently consistent. They will become painful. (Some women are unicorns and don’t have painful contractions, but this is not usually the case.) you will also probably feel the need to poop. My first three contractions, I thought they were poop cramps. After the third one I thought “hmm, maybe I should record these and time them.” I was having 60 second contractions, 5 minutes apart. 
So for me, they started as what felt like a poop cramp, and got more and more uncomfortable to the point of extremely painful.

I’ve never had a baby however, they’ll feel like tightening of your belly/uterus. Cramping sensations. It’ll also generally be accompanied by other symptoms and that’s how you’ll know you’re in actual labor vs. just Braxton Hicks.

They are painful you will know with my 3rd I was sweating and shaking because it was so intense went to hospital and I was 6cm dilated I’m expecting my 4th July 😌

You’ll know. 😬 id you question if it’s real labor...it’s not. 😅 learned that the hard way after having a few “false” alarms and making a trip to the hospital
