My parents look after my older son quite regularly. Because it’s a regular occurrence I’ve asked them to continue following the rules and discipline methods we have in place for him, and also to let us know if they plan to take our son out for the day.

They were upset and hurt by this request saying that they feel like we don’t trust them. Am I being unreasonable?

Edited to add the outings were a 3 hour round trip and both my son and one of the grandparents have health issues that can turn serious quickly.
