Some things are better homemade ❤
Of course there are somethings better already made vs homemade but you cant beat homemade taste and price! SO wanted chicken salad tostadas for his work lunch but he wanted it homemade so I thought id give it a try. He HATES shredded texture and he wanted it kinda mushy like the canned chicken. So, I boiled up chicken breast, saved the broth, shred it, and put it in the blender with the chicken. He also doesnt really like mayo so I got garden vegetable cream cheese and mixed it up with some sour cream. I then added peas, carrots, tomato, onion, jalapeño, ground black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and chicken powder bouillon. Lastly, homemade salsa roja that was made with tomatillos, chile pasilla, chile de arbol, garlic, onion, and seasonings. The canned chicken was $2.50 per 12.5 oz can and I just bought a $10 packed of chicken breast, .88 cent bag of frozen peas & carrots, $5 container of 16 oz cream cheese, and $1.50 container of 16 oz sour cream, $2 for a packet of tostadas. The rest of the ingredients I already had. Total was LESS than $20. Cooking and saving money just makes me so happy. This is going to last a good while! Im just going to add the sour cream mix before we eat it so it doesnt go bad fast. Cant let this go to waste! Share your homemade food pictures ladies!!
