How long should I be pumping?

Baby is 3 days old. Exclusively pumping because of latching issues. Milk is slowly starting to come in and my boobs are rock hard even after I pump for about 20 minutes. 
Is that not long enough? 
How long does this last?

I feel like at first I went 20-30 mins every 2 hours... did that for almost 6 weeks then I spread them out to 3 hours then at 4 months to 4-5 hours.  I pumped 6-7 times a day pretty much the whole time 😶 I never really made more if I went longer between pumps. So it just became a habit.... If your boobs are still hard you could try again after a bit and try to relax more..  I know its easier said than done 😁 I used to read or watch an episode of something on Netflix to distract myself.

Use a warm compress and massage! Milk coming in HURTS but it only lasts a couple of days.

15-20 mins is good timing. I find hands on pumping ( gently massage breast) really helped my breast empty the first couple weeks I was pumping.

I would say that’s pretty good to start out with. 20 is about a minimum time. Generally it’s said to do it until there isn’t anymore milk coming out. I just started exclusively pumping because my son has started refusing the breast. I’ve been doing it for about 3 weeks now. I normally pump every 2 hours for at least 30 minutes because I have productions issues.
