What do you do when strangers tickle or touch your kids in public?

I don’t get close enough to strangers for them to be able to touch her. If they tried, I’d back up and ask them not to. I don’t walk up to random people and touch them; not sure why people think it’s ok just because it’s a child.

I'll NEVER be afraid to speak up for the safety of my child. It is my duty to stand up for them. Dont ever be intimidated. It's absolutely acceptable to say "Do not touch my child"
If you don't, who will??

Even when my daughter is wrapped to me people will try coming up and touching her face/taking her hood off/or just in general getting way too close to us and its so weird. I thought wrapping them was supposed to stop that behavior but apparently not. I usually just back up and they get the picture. If not I just walk away, you're not obligated to speak to a stranger at all if you don't want to, just go about your day. If they do end up touching her though I usually just say "please don't touch other people without permission" before walking away from them. Stating it like that makes me feel like they get the message more-this is another person, not a doll or a pet. No touchy.

To me it depends on the situation really. My boy will be 11 weeks Friday and while we were at the park this  last weekend a really sweet lady running stopped us and asked if we wanted her to take our picture. We talked for a little bit and when she said bye she touched him. That didn’t bother me at all.

We’ve only had a couple instances and both were little old lady’s. The first stopped herself from touching and the other we know who she is from the community (small town where you know everyone even if not formally introduced): she tapped her on the nose and we were on our way. My mom radar didn’t go off in either situation so it was what it was.

I just ask them not to touch them. I don't know if they are sick or have been around a sick person recently.

It depends.  There have been occasions where the 98 year old watering her garden has touched my toddler .. in a way that showed she was reminiscing of a time long ago... that doesnt bother me at all.  If my cute little nugget reaching out to hold this dying ladies crinkled hand gave said old lady some peace them I'm all for it. Short of that if I am uncomfortable I gently ask people not to touch my kiddos...

Honestly depends. I've had a lot of elderly people just want to admire my son when he was a baby and I think its sweet. Sometimes they would touch his hand or caress his hand, but nothing super physical.
