Keto can be beneficial for people with certain health conditions but it should be supervised by a doctor or dietician. It’s important to really know what you’re doing and I feel like most people don’t and just try to lose weight fast.

My sister is a dietitian. If you look at Facebook pages or dietitian's comments Keto diet IS another fad diet, similar to Atkins. Keto diet was designed for children with epilepsy to put them in ketosis and help prevent seizure activity. The BEST diet is not to actually diet. Make healthy eating and regular exercise a lifestyle and you are more likely to lose and keep weight off. If not done correctly these fad diets do more harm than good. If you want a healthy diet to follow then use My Plate (new version of the food pyramid) and serve yourself appropriate portions.

Keto is a useful tool for people with certain health conditions that unfortunately got blown up into a fad diet, with little to no regard for the fact that it's incredibly dangerous if you're just going in all willy nilly and for some, even if you carefully research and do everything perfectly, it can still be dangerous. 
On a more personal note, it sounds like torture. I love all carbs.

It's pretty unhealthy and unsustainable, if you want to be healthy, don't do keto.

From the research I’ve looked at it seems great for treating epilepsy and a few other specific conditions. 
I wouldn’t personally do any restrictive diets like this outside of a doctors recommendation, but I’m also not really concerned with how other adults choose to eat.

I think there are less sacrificing ways to lose weight lol
Of course if you're obese and want to or need to (for some medical indication or future procedure) lose weight fast, it's very effective and will be quick if followed correctly. But most people who lose weight too fast go back to their initial weight after 2 years. If you simply want to be healthier, I think learning to eat clean and starting to exercise is the best thing you can do. Create an habit. Learn it.
Think about it, would be able to keep up keto forever? When you lose the weight and end keto, would you be able to reintroduce carbs in your diet and still be in calorie deficit/maintenance?

No. Keto is virtually just the Atkins diet which has been popular since the 70’s. But keto and any low carb diet gives me such bad breath I have to quit. It’s like it rots my stomach and it starts seeping out of me...

Keto is an actual diet for those who are recommended to do so by their doctor for certain medical conditions. It’s not for everyone to be doing and it’s honestly flat out stupid for the average person to be doing it 🤷🏻‍♀️
I like carbs with my bacon though so I would never.

It truly just depends on the person and it’s important to walk through it with a medical professional to make sure you know what you’re doing. Instagram health pages are pretty cool but aren’t reliable. 
But in the long term, a more sustainable lifestyle change will always trump a temporary diet in terms of keeping weight off and just being healthier overall.
