Is not creating a baby registry for a baby shower rude?

Question

First of all, I’m very blessed to have my two best friends host two separate events. One is May 4 and is a baby shower and the other one is May 11th and a gathering. I know it’s a baby shower (first event) and I’m supposed to create a baby registry. I just don’t want to because I’m actually not expecting gifts and I’m more about being there with my friends whom have been phenomenal, especially being single and a FTM at 33. Is it rude to not create a baby registry and just allow the guests to bring what they want, if they want to? 🤷🏻‍♀️  I’m not trying to be rude, I just hate asking for items. I’m more excited about spending time with the people I love and feel so blessed to have to amazing friends who wanted to host two separate events!

I don't think it's rude but I personally would just so they know what you need.

A registry does not prevent guests from bringing whatever they want to. It is merely a plan for what you anticipate needing, and even if you have one, people are free to use it, or not. In fact, where I am, registries are not mentioned on invites, guests ask the hostess if they want to know about them. The main benefit (for me) is the completion discount they give you near the end of your pregnancy. So do whatever you want! ☺

Not rude at all! My best friend didn’t have a registry for her shower. I will warn you, she ended up getting lots of noisy toys and lots of clothes. 
I’d suggest including your nursery theme on the invites if you have one. That may help some. Or, maybe a small list of essential items for those who may not know what to get. I’m a FTM so shopping for her shower was difficult for me, ended up calling her sister for advice.

Hah this is the OPPOSITE of rude. A lot of people don’t even want to buy off the registry so no one will look badly at you. IMHO you seem more grateful cos you care more about their presence than presents!

I didn’t have a registry for my firstborn. I have my SIL (the host) a short list of ideas in case people asked her what we still needed. I think people appreciate having ideas for what to give, but I don’t think anyone would think it was rude if you didn’t make a registry.

If you aren’t concerned about what you will be getting then I don’t think it is rude. It’s more for your benefit 😊 Some people might have a hard time knowing what to get you and you might get a lot of things you don’t need, or you might get a lot of duplicates. I would personally do a registry!

No! In fact, my shower invited specifically ask for diapers and wipes if people choose to bring a gift and several of my guests that have RSVPd told me they were so thankful cause they didn’t know what I needed. I did make a baby registry, but it’s really just for me, my husband and my mom and we have been buying off of it.

It isn't about asking for items at all. It's just really your own shopping list. You're gonna need all those things and it's important to figure them out now while you can... Have fun at your party and visit with your friends. If they want to help with your shopping list, let them love you that way too.
