My Birth Story - it's long - sorrrry!
This is Levi William at 2 months old (photo below)! He came on his due date (January 25) all natural! I knew all along I wanted to have a natural delivery, if possible. My husband and I took a low intervention birthing class to prepare and everything.
So, here we go...
I felt a little gush of fluids around 2pm January 24th while walking in to eat lunch with my husband. The second gush came after we went grocery shopping and while we were walking in to get coffee. We went home and I called my doctor, who wanted me to head to the hospital. We got to the hospital around 4pm and they admitted us.
Now, my birthing class teacher is also a nurse where I delivered and she told our class to reach out to her when we came in to see if she was working and she woudl try and be there. My husband Facebook messaged her and she had him call her to get an update of where we were in the process. She explained she started her shift at 7am the next day and to request her asap, so we did.
Anyways, I started pitocin at 9pm since contractions were non existent at that point. All was well until 4am when they started hitting hard! We still had no idea how far along we were since they do minimal checks once the water breaks.
By 530am I didn't think I would have energy to push so I discussed an epidural with my husband. In our birth plan we both agreed no decision making during a contraction, so we discussed in between.
At 600am, he asked the nurse on duty for the epidural. She knew I wanted to go natural and knew our birthing class teacher would be in in an hour, so she stalled. She told me the anesthesiologist had 2 back to back c sections so it'd be a while. I didn't know any better and just accepted it.
She checked me and I was at 5 1/2 cm. Finally, 7am rolls around and our nurse we have been waiting for comes and asks if I want the epidural or if I want to work with her for 30 min to see how it goes. I agreed to work with her and by 1030am I was at 10cm!
With all the exhaustion, crazy back labor, and 2.5 hrs of pushing, my little guy came into this world at 1:18pm, 7lbs 15oz, 20 inches long!
Without our angel of a nurse I would have not been able to get through it all natural, but we were so blessed to have her there! All the stars aligned and the sweet Lord made it happen!
I love reading everyone's birth story, so, I thought I would share a somewhat abbreviated version of mine! You can be so prepared of what the different stages of labor are and the process of checking in to the hospital, getting the IV...etc...but no matter how many women describe labor and delivery to you, the discomfort and pain cannot be described until you experience it on your own! I definitely felt everything since I had no pain relief, but with a few close friends and family members becoming pregnant since I had Levi, I just think... "She has no idea what is about to happen."
It is the most painful but the most beautiful experience in life! I am an exhausted new mama, but I thank God everyday for this beautiful miracle of life, my son...
