Very chapped lips??

My daughter is 8 days old and her lips are extremely chapped and the skin looks really thick. Is this normal?

As another poster stated it could be normal for breastfeeding but it could possibly also indicate a tongue/lip tie. I’d just have the pediatrician check for either at her next appointment to be safe.

If she’s breastfeeding, it could be from suckling and normal. My babies had similar when breastfeeding in the beginning. I used a lanolin cream on my nipples and it seemed to help.

Yeah it’s normal the same thing happened to my son and honestly I just rubbed my breast milk in his lips(I saw it on google) and his was fixed up in about two days

Make sure she isn’t dehydrated

If shes being bottle fed, her bottle is being left in her mouth.
