So, I went on a ski holiday for the first time in 20 years. I left on the 26th of March, the day AF was supposed to show up. I even bought a new big size mooncup to be able to enjoy the slopes without being bothered too much 🙈

First day of ski and nothing... OK, I thought, I won’t complain about AF being late when I’m on holiday. Besides, AF had already been late a couple of times before.

Second day, nothing. Third day, and I am beginning to hope that maybe this time... AF has never been late by more than 2 days up until now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Went to the pharmacist and bought a pregnancy test, not daring to take it because I thought it would jinx everything. That night, I dreamt TWICE that I was taking the test and that it came back positive. I woke up at 5:15 in the morning, having to pee. So I decided to take the test. I put it down on the counter of our hotel’s bathroom, and count down until I could look at it, but at the same time not daring to look.

When I finally gathered the courage, I looked at the test and saw it was positive. I cried happy tears, alone in the bathroom. We had been trying for 2 and a half years, I was diagnosed with endometriosis back in September 2018 and had surgery in October. I really thought that we would not be able to conceive naturally and we were only 3 months away from starting a first round of FIV. And there it was, when I wasn’t hoping for it anymore!

I hid the test and went back to bed. My other half was half awoken and asked me what was happening. As I wanted to surprise him, I told him I was crying because AF showed up so he consoled me and we went back to sleep.

That night, at dinner, the server came to our table with an envelope and a package addressed to him, saying he just received an urgent message. I tried my best to look as surprised as he was 😈

In the package, there was a small ski mask, and in the envelope, there was a card saying : « Hi daddy! I think I just ruined your plans for next year’s ski holiday. According to mummy’s app, I’ll arrive on the 4th of December, so I might be too small to go skiing in 2020. But rest reassured, we will go as soon as I am big enough! Mummy says she would like that very much.
