Is it bad to wait for ultrasound?

I want to wait until I’m 15 weeks to have my first ultrasound , then have my 20 week anatomy scan. Is that bad or should i push to have it earlier?

Go with whatever the doctor recommends. They have their schedule to make sure the baby is growing according to certain things. Having the ultrasound is more to check on the baby than for you. It’s just a plus that we get to see the baby.

For financial reasons/lack of insurance, I didn't have my first ultrasound until I was 14 weeks, and that was just because I managed to find a place that would do it for free. It wasn't until I was 19 weeks when I was finally able to start prenatal care. I'm 37 weeks now and everything has been fine.

Honestly if you already had a dating scan theres no need for another one until 20 weeks

This would be your second ultrasound if you have already had one. Was the baby and heartbeat actually seen at your first ultrasound or just the sac? Just asking because 5 weeks is often too early to see. The point of the first trimester scan is to make sure the pregnancy has implanted in the correct location, is viable, and determine accurate dating.  If all of this was confirmed with your first ultrasound,  then it is likely not necessary to have another ultrasound at all until the anatomy scan.  However,  I recommend you follow your OB's advice.

Do you have a definite last period? If you do for sure they won’t worry about you having an early u/s. The early one is mostly just for dating anyway! Many women actually never have an early one and their first u/s is their 20 week anatomy scan.

They need to see if everything is doing ok with your baby , why would you push it
