Is Intentional Queer Baiting wrong?

Is queer baiting wrong ? 
I just seen that Ariana grande was under fire for possibly doing this with her latest hits. And her refusal to confirm her sexual identity has some people questioning her intentions. 
*spoilers* This reminds me of a catfish episode with Dallas.wade , a straight man whose Instagram following is mainly men(100+K) . And he profits off of this , and makes his content to possibly suggest that he is interested in men.  He falls in love with an online model . Who turns out to be friends with a gay guy whose sexual advances have been turned down by Dallas.  And the model let her friend use her images and profile to start a relationship. They all felt justify by their wrong doing since they claim his Instagram suggest one thing when he’s actually another .

These are really three different things.  
1. Ariana and other artists don’t owe the world information about their sexual identity. Trying to force celebrities to out themselves in defense of their art is what’s wrong. 
2. With plot lines in TV eh. I’d argue there’s just good writing and bad writing. Sometimes possible romances and plot lines just never go anywhere. I also think sometimes fans read way way to deeply into things. It made more sense back when LGBT+ romance could only be safely hinted at, but today there’s little reason for media to need hint that way. 
However, I don’t love creators saying, “oh yeah Character X was gay. I just never mentioned it. #representation”. Looking at you here Joanne. 👀
3. The Catfish thing is just a straight scam. Yes that’s wrong.

I think JK Rowling is guilty of this. Claiming a character is gay but when it comes down to it refuses or is afraid to actually depict the characters that way IN the story, I guess for the sake of trying to rake in money from the gay community without actually creating diversity. I think “queer baiting” is wrong because it just kinda makes the person doing it look like a fraud or like they are using the lgbtq community for gain.

People keep firing at Ariana Grande, when she literally doesn’t owe anyone confirmation on her sexuality. She pretty much stated she was bi in her song with Victoria, no one needs anything further from her. 
Is actual queer baiting an issue? Yes. 
For example, movies and TV shows marketing themselves off as being inclusive off the backs of LGBT+ characters, only for audiences to be left with Queer characters getting barely any dialogue, or growth/development in the show. 
Is these cases, producers are literally exploiting the community for views, without ever actually giving anything back in terms of accurate and well thought out representation.

Because someone says something... That might determine they have a sexual preference towards a specific gender... But don't confirm or deny their sexual preference that's queer baiting?
  I mean call me old fashioned but who I like and who I have sex with is between that person and myself unless you or that person want to disclose that information to the public... And if that is the reason to like or dislike a person, their sexual preference that is,... Then perhaps that person, is the person who is fucked up in this situation. 
I know some gay people who are bags of shit. I know some straight people who are bags of shit... If someones a bag of shit then discloses or hints at their sexual preference.. it's not gonna make me like them more or less.. they will still be a pile of shit.

I think yes. It’s not technically our business but when you live your life in the public eye that’s the way it goes. She’s the one who put the line in the song so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I personally kinda think she’s just trying to sound “cool” and “relatable”.. I don’t think it’s right to try to make a profit off the lgbtq+ community when you aren’t actually a part of it.

I voted yes entirely because you asked if "intentional" queerbaiting is wrong.
If they say one things in the book/movie/source and then it isn't, then that's false advertising and they could potentially get fined or jail time, though those cases are rare. What normally happens is that they're sued. 
If done on accident, I'm okay with; afterall, many straight producers just don't feel comfortable going into depth on queer relationships and will unconsciously avoid the topic.
Now *intentional* queerbaiting means that they are doing this as a means to gain from the lgbt+ community. That kind of taking advantage makes them the scum of the Earth ☺.

From a strictly worldly perspective, why would it be wrong? 
From a Christian perspective, yes, it’s wrong. But I don’t know how non-Christians would justify it as wrong so I’m curious...
