Question

I received this tub as a gift and love the idea of it, but I'm having trouble with the temperature sensitive color changing plug. The instructions say it will turn white when the water is too hot. The first time we tried to bathe our baby it turned a lighter gray under the very lukewarm water (it was almost cold to us) but when we tried to set her down she started screaming so we took her out and just wiped her down with a soapy rag dipped in the water. Later I tried to run the water hotter to see if the plug would actually turn white and it turned an even lighter gray (almost white) but never white. 
I'm assuming we made the water too warm the first time? Idk but the instructions are a little misleading and I can't find any pictures online of an example of what just right and too hot are. I assumed the plug would change colors slightly under warn water so you knew it wasn't too cold too but now I just don't know. Does any one have this tub and know what I should actually be looking for? I'm worried I hurt her the first time and afraid to bathe her again. 😣

Honestly don't rely on the color change. You didn't hurt your baby. The water probably just shocked her. Some babies don't like baths and the water temp may have surprised her. 
Use common sense and feel the water. Too cold to you will be too cold for her too. Too hot? Then it's too hot. She spent 9 months inside where it's around 98°. You will find your groove and figure it out

Use your elbow to make sure it's not too hot. My husband randomly informed me of that right after our little man was born. 1: I thought what good would that do? & 2: I wondered "how do you know shit all of a sudden?" Lol. Never got an answer to #2, but it works like a charm. I agree with what everyone else said so far, but if u dip you elbow in the water first it guarantees you won't put her in any water that's too hot, give you some reassurance, ya know?

I have a color-changing duck that’s always white (too hot). We actually ended up getting a 4moms bath spout cover. It tells you the temp of the water and gives a “safe zone” that you should stay in. It was a gift I thought was unnecessary, but turns out we use it all the time now. If you’re concerned about water temp, maybe give it a shot.

My baby screamed the first time we put her in it as well, but I think she was just shocked. She calmed down after a little bit. We like the tub a lot! We ended up hanging a waterproof 3M hook in our bath/shower so that we could hang the baby tub to dry in between baths. That drain fits on the hook perfectly! 😊

I always run the water over my wrist bc it’s a little more sensitive (think dabbing formula or warm milk on your wrist) or even like a previous person said use your elbow to test the water. All babies are different and prefer different water temps. My son (3) and I prefer very warm water, when his dad runs his bath it’s always wayy too cold bc he’s just being cautious but you’ll learn what baby likes 😊

The problem with those is they assume all babies will like the same water temperature. Just like adults they will even have their preferences. My son always liked very warm baths. My SO and son preferred the same water temps. He would lose his mind if it was too cold. As hes gotten older he still likes warmer baths than normal.

We have this tub and absolutely love it! I agree with the previous comments, use the wrist or elbow to test the water. The color changing plug should not be relied on.
