Not ovulating?

Question

If I'm not ovulating, will my obgyn give me meds like clomid to help right away? Or will she likely make me try for a year first like women who regularly ovulate? Also, how will she check to see if I'm ovulating?

I am on cycle day 60, and so far nothing 😔

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I know your frustration! When my doctor first said that I probably had PCOS she didn't put me on anything because I wasn't trying to get pregnant then but she did say that when I decided to go off the birth control to give it 3 months and if I wasn't pregnant by then to come see her. Because I'm a procrastinator when it comes to going to the doctor I didn't go see her until my husband and I had been trying for 5 months (and I was in cycle day 98). At that appt she put me on metformin (I had insulin resistance with the PCOS) and gave me a prescription for Letrozol to take on cycle days 3-5 to make me ovulate. She also gave me a prescription for progesterone to take if my cycle got to 35 days with a negative pregnancy test. I started the meds in April and I found out at the beginning of July I was pregnant and I'm now 13 weeks along! Good luck to you!!!!

See an OB that has experience treating PCOS. I had my first period at 9 and was formally diagnosed at 13 and put on the pill. The OB at children's was rude and told me "Now Patty Anne, this is not a free license to have sex willy nilly." It took all I had not to gut check her. Instead I told her "Boys are gross, boys will always be gross. I am a child, and intend to remain ad such until I see fit. Madam." I went through 4-5 more OBs like that and I'd have to explain PCOS to them Then I met the last 2 OBs, the first one put me in metformin and mirena. It was amazing. Now I've been weened off metformin because the combination of the IUD  coupled with cutting all soy and rbst has helped me start ovulating again, reduced my hairiness and helped me drop 30 pounds in 6 months See an OB, and check out Soul Cysters and PCOS diva. Both are amazing resources for support and help in supplementing the treatment your OB is giving you.
