Banana baby food for 4 month old?

Okay so I've decided to go on ahead and start with solids with my daughter when she's 4 months. She'll be 4 months in 5 days. Is banana puree a good thing to start with? I'm a ftm and I'm not sure what flavors people usually start with, any ideas?

Do not listen to everyone telling you not to give your baby solids. I started my son on solids when he was 4 months old because he was STARVING. Formula was not enough for him. Yes banana is a good first food

It doesn’t matter if a baby is breast fed or formula fed, all major health organizations specify solids should start at 6 months. Not 4-6 months but six months. A lot of doctors still say that 4 months is okay but only if there are signs of readiness. Even then it’s still kinda iffy feeding solids before 6 months. You should wait to get clearance from the pediatrician if you haven’t. A lot of parents will naively say that because their kid was fine feeding solids that early that yours will be too but that isn’t always the case. When we know better, we do better.

I started my little boy on solids at four months - he was more than ready.
My pediatrician said to start with orange veggies first - sweet potato, carrot, squash. If you start with fruits, they may end up liking the sweetness and refusing to eat less sweet foods later. 
Mix the baby food with breast milk or formula to thin it out the first few times you’re trying them out. And know that one or two bites per “meal” is totally normal at the start. Keep starting with a bottle, then “top off” with a little bit of “real people food.”

The doctor told us at his 2 month appointment that she would give us the green light for rice cereal at his 4 month appointment (Tuesday) and no shes not an "outdated doctor". Hes been putting on steady weight, wants to eat our food, and the formula doesnt fill him anymore. Hes been showing signs of readiness. So once she gives us the green light we are  going to start him off slowly with rice cereal

I started my son at three months. Formula wasn’t enough. I would feed him two eight ounce bottles. I knew he was ready. He’s five months now. Doctors say he’s still in the right range for his age.
