Do some spermicide cells dry you out during sex?

used it for the first time last weekend and I think it was extra strength (Gynol II) and I was on my period but we eventually had to stop because I was too dry. And that's never happened to me before. I was perfectly turned on, but I wasn't lubricated enough and I didn't know what the cause of that was.
