Starting your maternity leave? Any nurses, when did you finish?

FTM, I’ve no idea when I should start my own mat leave! I work in operating theatres and worried my workload will be too heavy but don’t want to be silly requesting from 36 weeks if it’s quite capable?

I work for the NHS and was told I had to start 3 weeks before sue date. Also had 2 weeks holidays to use. Was so ready to finish the 13 hour shifts.

I’m going at 34 but taking 4 weeks A\L so will start Mat leave at 38. I’m 27 weeks now and starting to struggle with hip and pelvis pain so may have to go off sick if I can’t keep it under control.

I work in an operating theatre too, my final date is just 9 days before my due date, I think I’ll manage I just tell everyone around me that I can no longer carry heavy instruments or bend over like I used to x

I've got annual leave at 24 weeks then maternity starts at 36 weeks

Leave as early as you can afford to!

I went off sick at 30 weeks due to back and hip pain, couldn't stand the long shifts on the ward I work in. Work with NHS.. officially started my mat leave at 34 weeks! 
Just take it when you feel you need to. Ideally I wanted to work right up to 37weeks but I couldn't. X
