What's your opinion on smoking while pregnant?

Question

My friend just had a baby and smoked marijuana throughout her whole pregnancy. I urged her not to especially during the first trimester because that's when everything is first developing. The baby looks normal but there could be unidentified problems. Let me know your opinion down below

I smoked daily, multiple times a day, before I got pregnant. My opinion is that if you can’t stop something for less than a year for the sake of your child...you’re pretty pathetic 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
There aren’t enough studies to justify the continuance so everything at this point is anecdotal. I refrained from putting anything into my body that was known to be harmful, could potentially be harmful (which you’d be surprised how many “pregnancy safe” medications are not actually safe), or unknown. It’s natural but so is opium, belladonna, etc. And a lot of people still SMOKE it during pregnancy too and any kind of smoke is known to be harmful as it decreases oxygen levels in the blood, therefore decreasing oxygen that gets to the baby. 
I love marijuana, I really do. It’s great for SO many things. I just don’t love it enough to subject my child to it when her brain is undergoing rapid development so I will wait until I’m done breastfeeding to smoke again (if I even do).

I voted unacceptable before I read it was marijuana. I think weed is better than prescription drugs for any condition especially during pregnancy. Persciption drugs can do much more harm to an unborn baby than weed can.

My mom smoked every day with me and my sister and we are fine🤷🏻‍♀️ to each their own I guess. I personally think it’s less harmful than cigarettes but neither is obviously best.

Seriously I feel bad for anyone going through addiction. That’s one of the selling points of marijuana though isn’t it. It’s not AS bad it’s not AS addictive it’s not AS harmful.... 
I just don’t understand if there is no evidence of harm YET - that’s TBD- why would you even chance it? 
Pregnant 🤰🏻 women give up a lot during pregnancy! We avoid hot tubs and cold cuts and sushi but weed is ok? Wtf is wrong with the world! 
I have anxiety too and guess what? ! I go take a walk or do some yoga or dance or color there’s lots of other things you can do to chill out. I don’t take Xanax or drink wine or smoke anything anymore to chill out because I’m responsible for this baby growing inside of my body and I don’t want that kid to be messed up because I was selfish. 
If you haven’t tried being sober give it a shot. At least for the sake of your own baby. Take some responsibility. There are people who are recovering meth addiction On this app! and they are heroes! Read their stories and get their advice.

I have friends that smoked their entire pregnancy and baby was fine. But personally I chose to quite smoking after I got pregnant. I was a heavy smoker before getting pregnant, and while it was hard to quite I didn’t want to risk harming my baby. I don’t know if there is any harm in smoking weed while pregnant or not, but I didn’t want to take the chance!

Before 8 weeks baby cells regenerate. After that everything can harm the baby. The new studies coming out are finding similar findings to smoking cigarettes while pregnant if you smoke pot. No withdrawal really from either in the neonates but at risk for other issues. There isn't enough research yet on cbd oil so it's best just to not while pregnant.

Honestly people who smoke when theyre pregnant tend to get dcf in their kids life so honestly its not really your concern. It CAN hurt or addict your baby. Idc if the mom smokes. But the fact that her baby was taking all that shit in is very worrying

I think it’s on par with many medicines. I mean my doctor even gave concerns before prescribing me zofran. Most of these things haven’t had much research done because it would have to be on pregnant women.
