Your vagina basically creates a vacuum. 
You can submerge in water (i.e have a bath, go in a hot tub, go swimming) and you won’t bleed. Once you get OUT of the water you may leak a little bit it’s not going to be like a gush of red.

I literally do this all the time, it helps with my cramps so much. 
Just use the shower head to hose yourself down after if you bleed while bathing.

Your period stops when you’re in water. So maybe just wipe a lot of it and put it into the toilet like you’re going to the bathroom if you really want to
