MamaRoo and/or newborn bedside sleeper

I was given a brand new MamaRoo and have a crib set up in the nursery. I would prefer for my son to sleep close by in our room for the first few weeks/months before we transition him to a crib. Would I need a separate bedside sleeper or would the MamaRoo work, as it reclines to a horizontal position?
