My puppy won’t stop crying in his crate.

Guys this has nothing to do with pregnancy or any of that but I just got a blue heeler puppy and he is super cute and the sweetest thing BUT when we try to put him into his crate for bed time he isn’t having it ? Any tips ?

All puppies are like that because they have just been separated from their siblings and parents. Just ignore it. It will take about a good month until he completely stops, took mine puppy that long and now she knows when I say go to bed to gets excited and runs to her room and goes inside her crate

So we went to our local feed store and the one they had was like this but metal and so it was less bulky. The ones on chewy have a door in them but it’s not necessaryWe liked the one without a door just fine. This is what our set up looked like, we covered the floor in puppy pads though at night before we went to bed.

We used an xpen. We put the crate against a wall and surrounded it with the pen. We laid down potty pads, we left the crate door open and put a bed and some toys in there so our pup would be cozy and happy. This made it so our pup could go in and out on his own and it was a cozy place for him not just a place he was away from us and scared. He went in there to sleep and got up to drink and go potty. As we started seeing less potty on the pads we started closing the gate at night but not locking it so if he needed to go he could push the gate. When we noticed he wasn’t going during the night at all we started to lock it. At this point we removed the pen and he slept through the night. This method also helped with potty training and by the time he was old enough to go outside he was fully potty trained.

I’ll post a picture in the comments it’s like an 8 panel gate that can be used for play time but we used it at night for our pup and as the crate became a home to him he started to like it more.
