Big choice: HELP! What should I do?

My boyfriend and I will have been together for two years in October, and have lived together just short of that as well. We live out in the country (20 min from where we work). Lately I've REALLY wanted to move in town now, but we're kind of stuck where we are until rent is caught up (this could take another year). He's part of the reason we're behind on rent. He drives a BMW and gets decent gas mileage. I drive a Cadillac and don't get as great. I can't afford paying for gas back and forth all the time. He makes over twice what I make per paycheck, but gets really upset with me when I have to ask for gas money. My dilemma then becomes, I need to live in town closer to work, but we both can't move now. Should I find my own place that he can stay at whenever and live seep rarely until he can move to town with me, or should I stick it out and continuously have to penny and dime gas until the next paycheck?
