At 35 weeks I packed all of the baby essentials I needed:

2 COMFORTABLE outfits (including socks) because up until birth babies are naked, as cute as the frilly outfits can be, imagine being used to being naked all the time and then being forced into uncomfortable clothes. 😩 The hospital did give me a little baby t-shirt for her to wear though. Oh and a sleep sack, but I don’t know if every hospital gives those out.

2 receiving blankets for cleaning up milk and spit up. I used them as burp cloths more than the actual burp cloths I was gifted.

1 swaddling blanket, for swaddling lol. My daughter loved being bundled up like a burrito in the hospital.

I was on an “organic products only” kick so I packed sample packs of honest diapers and pampers pure diapers but ended up using the pampers swaddler diapers the hospital gave me anyway. I didn’t change the wipes though and I still use the sensitive fragrance free wipes from target.

I also packed Honest and Babyganics diaper rash cream, lotions, and hair and body washes in travel sizes for her first bath, but they have all that stuff there to use as well in the Johnson and Johnson brand if you don’t want to pack extra stuff.

Nail clippers, because most babies that I’ve seen are born with claws and it’s way easier to trim them when they’re newborns and sleepy all the time than 9 month old wiggly worms, so enjoy it while it lasts.

A boppy or similar nursing pillow, because they’re tiny and it comes in handy for getting them at the right angle for nursing (if you choose to.)

Whatever other cute items you think you want for photos or leaving the hospital.

As for you, I packed my personal bag at 37 weeks and that basically had pajamas, a ton of the largest underwear I could find (which I regret buying because I stocked up on mesh panties in the hospital and those lasted me 2 weeks post-partum), toiletries, SOCKS, all of the socks because hospitals are freezing and hospital floors weird me out, a robe for easy booby access, 2 nursing bras, a little bit of makeup so I didn’t leave the hospital looking as dead as I felt 😂, my chargers for my laptop and phone, and my wallet.

I think that’s everything I packed. Mind you it’s 9 months later and I have full mom brain now, but I’m pretty sure that’s everything. Pinterest helped me a lot and also taking a tour at the hospital helped. They told us what we were getting sent home with so I knew what not to pack. Also my stay was 48 hours longer than average because I was group b strep positive so they had to monitor my daughter. So you may not need as much as we did. My husband packed his own bag but didn’t go as crazy as I did because we live relatively close to the hospital so he could always run home quickly to grab whatever he needed.
