Opinions on Midwives??

So I found out how difficult it is to find a doctor in my new home. Recently moved to Cornwall, ON and everywhere I go, they tell me that all the doctors are not accepting new patients. I have heard bad things about some midwifery's, and the rare good thing. I need some advice here, especially because I'm 19 with my first 😁

I'm using a midwife in a birth center bc I have always wanted a natural birth and I have heard a lot of bad things about doctors manipulating you into unnecessary interventions which end up costing more and putting you and baby at risk for no reason. If I were to actually NEED an intervention my birth center partners with the best hospital in the area and it's right across the street.

I used a midwife with my son and am with one again for this pregnancy. I have nothing but good things to say about them! We had a great experience. They're so much more personal and you know they will be there when you're in labour! (Btw I'm in Kingston ont)

I had both. A midwife with my first and a doctor with my second and currently having my third. Midwife a are great if you want all natural. If you have any risk factors they will transfer you to a doctor. You also go home the same day you give birth which some people like. Hospital is is good if you want pain meds and if you are wanting more help in the beginning with feeding. You stay one or two nights and can get some rest and hospital staff with help with baby. Doctor is more expensive. Midwife is more hands off. I liked both a lot. I'm high risk now so I go to a doctor. If I wasn't I'd pick a midwife. Warning, giving birth without pain meds is VERY difficult and takes someone there supporting you through it like a mom or spouse or someone else who has experienced birth and can be helpful to you.
