Can the grooms cake be white and circular ? Or is it suppose to be a different color and square?

So long story short, my future MIL has been sort of stubborn. I’ll keep it specifically to the grooms cake. So my favorite cake is red velvet. My cake was going to be 4 tiers two vanilla and two red velvet since my fiancé likes chocolate cake and he wanted chocolate icing and vanilla cake. Well we talk to his mother and she wants red velvet. I tell her the wedding cake is red velvet so she decides to go with his favorite (which should be the first choice obviously 😑)

Well something happened with my bridal shower cake and I got scared my caterer would mess the wedding cake up also. So I thought since everyone likes vanilla I wouldn’t do the red velvet. I told her that my fiancé likes red velvet but he doesn’t like white icing on it he’s weird and likes chocolate icing and if she wanted to do that she could keep her idea with the Reece cups and strawberries. She said that she was doing red velvet anyways she decided that months ago. So I let that slide.

Tonight I’m talking to my fiancé and we were talking about Hershey bars with almonds and he goes “YEAH I HATE NUTS! My mom is putting nuts on the tops of the cake. How much is the wedding cake costing? It’s 4 tiers right? Mom said she’s doing a 5 circle cake thing. Something about buttercream do you like that I didn’t think buttercream went on red velvet?”

😳😳😳😳😳 she’s doing a 5 tier white cake for the grooms table?????????? That’s going to be bigger than the wedding cake! I thought the grooms cake was also suppose to be square???? We only have 125 people coming at the most. Should this make me mad? I feel I’m being a bridezilla but I also feel a little hurt she’s trying to outdo us :/
