Anyone else have to bring urine samples from home?

This is my 4th baby. I have had different OB's for each. They all want you to give a urine sample at every visit.
The office I am with now however, gives you a bunch of empty containers at your first visit, and says you have to bring your urine sample from home every time you come in. They claim it saves time, but I PROMISE you that I will still have to pee again by the time I get to the office, so I don't see how it saves any time!
I know it is not a big deal, but I think it is really kind of stupid and adding unnecessary steps for the patient. 
I am curious if any other office has this policy?

As someone who works in the medical field that is the most bizarre thing I have ever heard. I’m just thinking of how there is no way of knowing if that is actually that woman’s urine. Like what in the world.

My grandmother used to do that when she had her kids, she said it was so they would be able to get you fmu and be able to test that.

My drs office handed me a sterile cup at every appointment and had a special cabinet to deposit the sample in when I was done. Took 2 minutes.

I honestly wouldnt see a doctor that did that because it makes them seem lazy like they want to cut corners, which isnt a good quality in an ob.

My OB office has you pee in a cup at every appointment. They have specific bathrooms with the cups in them and a little door to put your urine in before you go to your room.

I think I peed in a cup once during each of my pregnancies. Im just curious why do you have to every visit - for those of you that do every appointment?

That’s weird lol. I mean I could understand if they had you collect it for a specific reason of them needing to check something but my dr office doesn’t do that.

That’s really weird lol I honestly wouldn’t even trust that they are even running any tests on your urine....
