How early did you get to hear the baby's heartbeat?

So today, I had my first OB appointment. I was told that I was going to get to hear the baby's heartbeat. So excited. Well, anyway I'm 10 weeks, and well the OB said she wasn't going to check the heart beat because it was too early to hear it....
Ummm? Okay... 
Now I have to wait 2 to 4 weeks to get one. Confused... Upset. Ughh.

No that’s way uncommon. You can usually hear the heartbeat at 6-7 weeks but FOR SURE by 8-9 weeks so she should have been able to listen to the heart beat to know the beats per minute

Thats odd. We heard a strong hb at 7 weeks. Thought wed just see it on the screen, but we got to hear it.

My ob office doesn’t start using the doppler to listen to heart beat till 14 weeks so that sounds normal to me in the ob office. I had ultrasounds and 6 weeks both my pregnancies and saw the heartbeat flicker then.

Depends. Was it an ultrasound or doppler you thought she would use? With the doppler, my dr didnt do it until 12 weeks. Ultrasound, we were able to hear it at 8 weeks.

I just had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks and 3 days and we saw the heart beating and they measured it at 150 bpm but we didn't get to actually hear it.

In the uk we don’t get to hear the heartbeat till 16 weeks for the first time.

I have a midwife and they don’t start checking for a heartbeat until your second appointment at 11-12 weeks and even then she said it wasn’t unusual to not find it yet. If you look on an ultrasound you can find one as early as 7-8 weeks but they don’t do invasive procedures unless they have to

I’m 8 weeks 6 says and had my first ultrasound today. The dr did a transvaginal ultrasound. He showed us the flickering heartbeat and then let us listen to it for a split second as he measured it.

I had an ultrasound at 8 , didn’t get to hear the heart beat. I had another at 10 and still no heartbeat. I made an appointment for next Tuesday and I’ll be 13 weeks , and I’m getting the heartbeat recorded and put in a stuffed animal! That’ll be the first time I hear it
