Gifts! is it rude?

Is it rude? Someone who didn't have to get us a gift we barely know them they are a few elder ladies that work where my husband works they will probably never come visit bought us a a type of bassinet is it rude that if I don't like it to thank them and then take it back for a bassinet I really want instead the one they got us doesn't last tell baby is 1 and i intend to keep baby in our room tell 1yr. Is it rude I will give them a thank you card and it was very nice of them to get it for us because they knew that was one thing we still needed. 38wks and emotional about everything and honestly the thought of have this instead of the one I wanted for us makes me sad.

I don’t think it’s rude at all! Lots of people return or exchange things they’re gifted, that’s why most people give gift receipts! As long as you thank them I don’t see anything wrong with it

Girl as long as you give them a thank you note you can do with it what you please. I have returned SO MUCH stuff because it wasnt want we wanted or it was a duplicate or it was clearly for a 12 month old girl and I'm having a baby boy.

Not rude at all. My friend bought me a bassinet and told me that if I saw a different one that I liked better, to go exchange it. I have a feelings those ladies were thinking the same thing. They were probably just happy and excited to get you something you needed. Send them a thank you card for it and go exchange it.
