Annual OBGYN exam before TTC?

Question

I had my first preconception exam yesterday and our doctor said no need to have my annual exam (it's been 2 years)  until I find out I'm pregnant. Does this sound right? Or should I get totally checked out before trying?

Doctor told me if I'm up to date on my Pap smear once I'm pregnant they'll be no need for an immediate internal.

Most places are considering 2-5 years in between paps normal now unless you have an abnormal result

If you've had 3 normal paps in a row you can wait upto 5 years for the next one maybe that's why you weren't "due" for one. But if it had been more than a year it's common procedure to do one during your first ob visit. I had had one a few months before my initial pregnancy visit so they just checked my cervix and did a vaginal sonogram no pap.
