How many words does your baby have?

Animal sounds count as words according to our pediatrician!
If they’re doing more than 10 words, do they use a lot of different sounds or is it mostly variations on the same sound?

Wanted to chime in for those of us whose kids don’t have much to say just yet—that’s totally normal too! I worried about this a lot, but as long as they’re picking up on things (ie showing signs of comprehension and progress), you’re ok. Generally speaking, it’s still on the early side for much more than a few words.

We have mama, dada, hi, bye, yeah, no, out, uh oh, tickle, quack, and nose for sure. He has repeated a couple things randomly but hasn’t said much else yet. He’s known these words for a couple months. Hasn’t said anything new recently. I try not to obsess over it, I know he’s learning something everyday.

My son has just over 10 but a lot of of them are variations of the same sounds sounds. Aside from Mama/Dada, he says Sock, Tchuck (truck), Cahk (car), Chick (chicken), Chiss (cheese), Keet (kitty), Dok (dog), Back, Sak (snack). Mostly “ch” “sh” “ss” and “ck” sounds.

My daughter only says momma, dadda,dad, yeah, dog, kitty, bye, and hi . She won’t do any animal sounds. She has growled and meowed like one day and won’t do it since then. When I try to teach her she could care less about it. She just laughs and swipes to the next animal.

Our son has begun the long journey of Autism testing. (My sister and father are both autistic so we knew there was a chance). All he can say is DaDa, and he mumbles in what I would assume is his own language. He is behind in many things, but speech is definitely the worst. 😕

My son probably knows over 100 words. His vocabulary has definitely increased in the past month and a half!

I would say my son says 70-80+. I used an app during my February break when I was home with him for a week and I was up to 64 words. He has leaned some new words since. He also can do a bunch of signs that my mother in law taught him. He is extremely smart and picks up words really quick. He also understands directions and can do stuff when I ask him to, like sit down and take of your socks!

Mine says lots mama, dada, mummy, daddy, pretty, cat, dog, fish, trees, grass, chocolate, dinner, tata, bye bye, gone, all gone I mean he doesn't say them perfectly but if you knew him you could tell those are the words he was saying.

I haven't counted yet actually thought about it recently. She is well over 20 words and picks them up quickly. She can clearly say multiple syllable words like saturday and excited. She refuses to say simple words like milk smh... She also has quite a few phrases as well. There is one phrase
 I rather she not say but she heard grandma slip.  "Ohhh sh*t"

My daughter says mama, dada, fish, ducky, pear, apple, bear, yo-yo, cheese, all done, more, happy, yeah, no, i don't know, baby, banana, coat, hat, shoes, bird, boat, cat, car, owl, poo, booboo, and when asked she can point to several body parts and pictures of more than 100 things.
