Spironolactone and TTC
Has anyone had any personal experience with being on Spironolactone, and then having to go off it completely before TTC? I was on a low dose of 100mg per day for about 2 years, for cystic acne (yes it cured it for me- and I even did a round of Accutane many years ago). I went off of it a month ago and just had an appt. with my Obgyn. She said while there are no definitive answers it's better to be safe and wait a full 3 months before TTC. But I found this information below and wondered why I would need to wait at all if it's out of my body within a couple of days. I will do whatever is safest and likely wait as directed, but I was just wondering if anyone may have received other instructions from their doctor.
"The half life of spironolactone is 2 hours or less. That means it should be out of the body in about 4 hours. However the half life of its metabolites is 13-24 hours. That means out of the body in up to two days."Thanks in advance!
